Online and help
Casino Nova Scotia, online play and help
The road from the Halifax waterfront to George Street in Sydney ends at two casino buildings. Online play has its own rules in Nova Scotia, and so does help, and both are set out below.

Atlantic Lottery's alc.ca
In Nova Scotia, regulated online play happens on alc.ca, a site Atlantic Lottery operates for the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation; its online casino launched in July 2022. Atlantic Lottery belongs to the governments of the four Atlantic provinces. Both casinos on this road are operated by Great Canadian Entertainment for NSGC; online play goes through a different channel, alc.ca.
As Atlantic Lottery puts it, any other online gambling site is legally barred from running or advertising in Atlantic Canada. An overseas licence does not change that.
A player on alc.ca may choose a short break lasting 1 to 90 days or a long break running 6, 12, 24 or 36 months. Neither kind of break can be reversed. Weekly deposit limits, daily session limits and daily wager limits can also be set there.
Three numbers to keep
- The Provincial Mental Health & Addictions Crisis Line, run by Nova Scotia Health, answers 1-888-429-8167 at all hours on every day of the year. Calling is free and confidential, and anyone concerned about someone else may use it as well.
- Mental Health and Addictions Intake, at 1-855-922-1122, handles counselling outside a crisis. It takes calls on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
- Both casinos offer confidential support through a Responsible Gambling Resource Centre. The Halifax one is found on the gaming floor close to Trapeze Restaurant, 902-424-8663; the Sydney one is located just inside the main entrance, 902-563-3797.
The home page and its Ad links
Ad is the tag on each paid link, and there are three of them. The home page is their sole address: the menu, a block beneath the opening screen, a block toward the foot. One destination waits at the end of all three: an unnamed private online casino, replaceable, whose commission goes to this guide.
That partner holds no Nova Scotia licence or registration, and the province has no licensing route for private online casinos. A Casino Nova Scotia self-exclusion does not reach it. Breaks and limits set on alc.ca have no effect there either. Links on this guide to the casinos, the province and the help lines earn nothing.
How the road team works
The road team is the shared name that writes and signs this guide, and no single writer is named. Facts come from the casinos' own pages, the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, yourbestbet.ca, the province, Atlantic Lottery and OpenStreetMap. All of them were checked on October 5, 2026. The map comes from OpenStreetMap, and every distance in the guide is measured as the crow flies between map points. Roads run longer than those straight lines, so no drive times appear here.
Every picture is painted with an image generator, and no camera took any of them. Two scenes were painted from real photographs: the Casino Nova Scotia sign on George Street in Sydney, and plates from the 3Sixty buffet in Halifax. Each keeps its own light and framing; the roadside, the lookout over the Canso Causeway, two harbours and car door have no real model. There are no forms or accounts; theme and tool choices may sit in browser storage, and calculator entries stay put. A separate visit tally uses no cookies but receives your IP address and user-agent.
Before you set off
- Is there a Casino Nova Scotia website for playing online?
- Regulated online play in Nova Scotia is on alc.ca, which Atlantic Lottery runs for the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation. That is the province's own channel for casino games online.
- Once a long break starts on alc.ca, can it end sooner?
- Once chosen, a long break lasting 6, 12, 24 or 36 months cannot be undone. Short breaks of 1 to 90 days cannot be reversed either.
- Who is the woman painted into the pictures?
- The traveller is a character drawn with an image generator for this guide. She is not a real person, not casino staff and not the writer.
